1995 960 I am installing fuel pump tank assembly. I have a new seal. I am having a hard time getting this assembly into the tank.The seal wants to curl back on entry when pushed into the tank. I tried putting the seal in the tank first. The assembly will not push into the tank. Is there some kind of slippery stuff I could use to help this assembly slip into the tank. Thank you for your help.

 

Petroleum jelly, aka Vaseline. Put the seal on first, on the tank's opening, then push the assembly through--with the Vaseline on the surfaces all around.

 

I got pump and sensor into the tank. Problem was the new seal was larger than old seal.
I ordered a second new seal and used super lube to install the pump finally was able to
push the part into the tank.
