Hi guys, I recently bought a '93 850 and still have a FOB left over from my '95-'96. I was wondering if I can program it to work with the '93 one? The '93 one is a two oval button while the newer one is a two rectangle button style. The part numbers and FCC ID's are not the same.

Probably not but worth a try. When I added the lock module to my wifes car it would not program with the FOB I had but my FOB would program with it. I picked up another module that came with a FOB. When I installed that module my wifes key FOB did program with it. Moral of the story, they are different. Even though these were both 850 modules and fobs that were all identical they were different internally.

 

That's a good idea. I could try swapping out the internals.

The FCC number has to match. Doesn't matter how many buttons, but if that FCC number doesn't match the receiver will never "see" the signal from the transmitter (fob).

 

RSPI, whats the FCC # on the fob that won't work for ya?
