Default 1996 850r fuel pump recurrent issues

i replaced the pump about 18 months ago.

same symptoms are happening again as last time. when its very hot on rare occasions the car will stall. it will crank and not start for a few minutes. if i let it sit for about 15 min it starts up again and the problem goes away. i replaced the pump when it did this last, 18 months ago, and it ran fine until the past week or two.

anyone else have recurrent fuel pump issues?

that being said if it is two fuel pumps in 18months, maybe its time to get the gas tank cleaned?

Are you checking fuel pressures when you are having problems or just guessing that it's a fuel pump/pressure problem?

1996 still has a cap rotor and wires - has all that basic stuff been checked and is in great condition?

Any codes stored? Wiring to cam position sensor still in great condition?

Throttle housing has been cleaned and no intake air leaks?

no codes and the car runs flawlessly generally. its an intermittent issue. the fuel pump is noisier than usual as well.

did you use an OEM pump or after market? Have you noticed if the problem happen when the tank is full, half full or almost empty or it doesn't seem to matter? Ever notice anything odd when filling the gas tank (ie pump shuts off before the tank is full)? Thinking aloud whether you may have an issue with the fuel tank venting or evap system (which should throw a code but given you have a 1996, not sure what the ECU monitors in the evap system.

aftermarket, replaced the entire assembly as time was an issue.

this last time the tank was just above 1/4. i dint recall the time prior but i remember it was very hot ambient temp both times and that the problem got worse over time. so it would stall once, fire up again, then a week or so later again and then the intervals got closer until i changed the pump.No error codes though. there is a smell of gas though when this happens....
