1997 Volvo 850 20v Timing
Hello,
New to this forum and working on replacing lifters on this 20v motor. Customer had the vehicle die a couple weeks ago before we had the opportunity to replace the lifters. Seems like the timing belt has skipped but I can't tell as there a zero timing marks on the camshaft sprockets. I pulled all spark plugs, engine rotates smoothly, sent a camera down each cylinder and there are no marks on any of the pistons so I'm not concerned about valve damage.
Is there a way to check/set the timing on the cams themselves, once I get the cover off, without any specialty tools? I really don't want to mark the belt where is is now just to find out it is out of timing. From all the pictures I've seen online, the bolts for the cam sprockets seem to line up the same as in every picture I've seen, but I want to be sure.
Thanks!
