Default 850 main seal question?

1996 850 turbo wagon 92k miles. Ok, so I just got done with my full PCV replacement and it went very very smoothly. I had the car in a shop for a AC charge and the mechanic says my main seal is leaking. It has oil on it, but I swear it is coming from above where the turbo was/is leaking. The shop checked my PCV with a pressure tool and it is working well now, so I hope that will slow or stop any leaks either from the turbo or Main Seal. The total oil output is down to 2 drops per night. So if this is from my main seal does this mean it is allowing oil to mix with coolant or other fluids, or is it just letting oil from inside the engine drip out at the rate of 2 drops per night? If that's all it is, what is the danger of just letting it drip for now? thanks, Arlo

clean up the area and see if you can pinpoint the leak.check your oil level regularly.with 2 drips overnight you are ok.i dont know about your driveway though

A rear main seal would leak while the engine is running and would normally be quite messy. Maybe you have to pinpoint the leak first.

Could be a rear main seal weaping. It will only get worse.

Default it was my fault

I went under the car this morning, this was the first time since i did the PCV two days ago, there was oil all over. No wonder the mechanic told me it was a main seal, so I traced the oil up to the front of the engine under the oil trap. I had torn one of the hoses putting in the new system, the hose clamp I used cut a huge gash in the hose going to the right of the PCV and that was the source of my large new leak. So I spent all day doing the PCV dance again. It was even easier the second time and I took more care in what I did. I cleaned and used the old hose in place of the torn one. Car runs great and I will see what the oil fairy brings in the morning on the garage floor.
