Default 1995 map sensor location
My 850 has developed a stumbling off idle and same when stopping or stopped at red light. Stumbles badly on take off, then once off idle runs fine.
I have been told bad map sensor, now that's the problem; I can not find it. I have been looking for it for a week off and on while I have cleaned and checked other things, even swapped Mass Air flow from known working car with no improvement.
Please does anybody know where it's located?

It really sounds like a vacuum leak, my guess would be at the idle control valve. It is located under the throttle mechanism. Has a couple of small hoses and one bigger one. If it tears from the clamp or simply comes off you will have a bad idle.

Idle is fine it's the missing and bucking just off idle and when you are slowing and stopped. Does not hunt like a idle control valve.

Hi, I have a 1996 850 with a very similar issue, hard to start, stalling after start up and bucking like a rodeo bull during acceleration. no codes.
The map sensor is above the fan near the hood latch, just follow the vacuum line from you intake manifold and you should find it.
I was playing with my map sensor today and pulled the vacuum line off just as it was about to stall during idle, the rpms ramped back up to normalish (its a pretty rough idle with no map) and it didn't stall, put the vacuum line back and the idle smoothed out for a moment and then sputtered almost to a stall again, pulled the vacuum line and rpms ramped back to normal, I repeated this a enough that I'm sure the problem is map related, I suggest you try this and see what happens.

My 96 850 will start and run fine for a few minutes. Then boggs down and dies quickly. Rail fuel pressure Ok. When it boggs down I can keep it running for a little whle by pumping accelerator up to about 3000 but will still bog down and quit later. OBD2 scan shows Mass Air Fuel problem. Would bad MAF sensor cause this.

Not saying they will last as long as a new one or anything, but i've tested all of them in my car, and they seem to work fine.
