850R Parking Brake Cable
The sheathing on the one of the parking brake cableon my wife's 1996 850R is cracked and keep seizing. I tried lubricating it numerous times but with the harsh winter and salt the city put down here in Winnipeg, it just doesn't work verylong. How big of a job is it to replace the cable. I haven't gone under the car to see how it is attached to the parking brake shoe side yet. Do I need to remove the roto to get at the attachement point?

RE: 850R Parking Brake Cable
Did both of mine last year. It's not a hard job per se, but takes a little time. Back seat lower cushion has to come out so you can lift up the carpet and floor tray. I found having the seats pushed all the way forward gave just enough room to feed the cables in on each side. This link assisted me along with the Haynes manual. I think it took 2 and a halfhours total for both sides. Hardest part was mucking around with the springs for the parking brake shoes and that wasn't a big deal.

And for the effort you'll put in with the carpet and floor tray, do them both, don't nurse along one old one. I can't remember for sure but FCP sold the cables for I think about $50 each.

RE: 850R Parking Brake Cable
Thanks. I replaced the ebrake cable on my daughters BMW, and it was a real PITA.
