Default 850T auto tranny jerks/misses at high speeds

Hi:
Anyone had experience with a subtle jerk of their car at freeway speeds? Maybe 4th gear is slipping or momentay disingagement? At first I thought it was ignition, but replaced wires/plugs/distributer parts. No diference.
The vehicle has 160K.
If I put the transmission into 3rd gear, no more jerk...
Any ideas?
I have not yet replaced the ATF, but will do that tomorrow.

Thanks for any experience here (All other cars in our family are manual, I don't have a real handle on auto trannys)

Fluid at the correct level, no arrows indicated on the dash...
Will be changing fluid here shortly, in rainy Ohio....

Now I must say I am feeling more like a parts replacer than mechanic! I changed the ATF this afternoon, good idea, very brown.... However no change in the miss/jerk. Our son drives the car, so it has been over a week since I last drove the car, and it seems worse than ever. Starting to rethink the AT as the cause. Sitting at idle often, not always, you can feel the slightest miss. I got it to give that same kind of miss in 3rd gear today as well. Not steady, somewhat random. I ordered a new fuel filter (like I say, a parts replacer) make any sense to you that that could be the cause? Just not enought fuel delivery? Most of the time at a steady cruise, no miss at all. Even on hard accel, it rarely misses...but then the miss just appears!
Ugh

I'd welcome any additional thoughts or suggestions or similar happenings

Thanks
Pete

Mine was doing the same thing, I end up changing plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and fuel filter and it still jerkd.. I ran it for codes a few times and got code p0335, crankshaft sensor.. I replaced the sensor with a junk yard sensor and so far after 30 miles of driving it no more jerking or misfire. My problem was that I was getting a random jerking once in a while and then the car would run fine and then a random jerking would come and go...

Sounds similar to my situation. Thanks for the writing and the tip to look for. I will check for codes this week.

In case if your 850 hasn't received a good tune-up...

If routine tune-up items weren't the cause, I wonder if it was caused by faulty solenoids...
