Default 95 850 auto trans

I have a situation when I come to a lite or stop sign sometimes the trans acts as though it is in neutral. I have to increase the rpms considerably to get it to move. If I drive it in 3rd gear this issue does not happen. I have changed fluid and just today removed and cleaned PNP switch. Still the same issue.

Any ideas anyone?

Sound like a slipping trans to me but I just replaced mine. Typically the first gear slips when they are startin to fail because the first gear gets the most wear since everytime you accelerate from a stop that gear is used. Buy a new one or get a used one. I've heard horror stories about rebuilds, they just don't work out to well

Default Auto trans 95 850

Could TCM have anything to do with this? What are these solenoids I keep hearing about?

Thanks

Shift solinoids? Yeah you can replace them I've heard there around 125 a piece so your looking at 250 to replace those and you still don't know if it will be fixed until you put it back in. Your best bet is to get a used one with low miles on it. Best of luck

Just a simple drain and fill may not do the trick...
I would do a seafoam transtune treatment (Seafoam Trans Tune 16oz Can) and a proper flush before you start replacing things.

Are you getting any shutter or does it BANG into gear when it catches?

No shutter. No bang. Just increase the rpms until it catches. Everything else works fine. Shifting up and shifting down. No problem with reverse. And like I said if I am in third gear no issues at all

Yes, one of the first things I did was flush the system and monitor fluid level

I'm going to go the the junk yard tomorrow to try to pick up a used tranny. I know where the model tag is on it but I hear that I should get a '94 or '95 model. Does the '96 models have the same model number? I hear they are a little different and I don't want to get the wrong one. Something about a speed switch or something.

Anyway I don't think I have a 1st anymore and sometimes I have to wait about 40 seconds before it starts moving forward if I shift it out of gear for any reason. As long as I leave it in gear it starts right away in 2nd, but it does slip in 2nd till it gets in 3rd.
