I have a '97 850 R and occasionally when I start my car, the ABS light will remain on. I had this problem before and had the unit replace, but now there's something else going on. The car will not willingly shift out of Park. When you override the shifter lock, you can drive the car, but neither the speedometer, directionals, nor the head/parking/running lights function properly. (As a side note, the emergency flashers and the brake lights do function normally). Anybody have any advise?

 

Ignition switch.

Jiggle the key and see if that does the trick.

This is common and very easy to replace. The switch is about $50.

 

A bad Ignition switch will cause that.(Electrical part of the ignition switch)
Wiggle the key some after it is running and see if they start working.
