Default brembo vs oem

my back rotors need to be replaced and i was about to order the oem's on FCP's website when i noticed that the brembos were about 13$ cheaper than the oems.

i dont do any aggressive braking, but when i owned an integra, i replaced the stock rotors with those and loved the way they felt.

i read that our cars are susceptible to squealing with aftermarket rotors/pads but i was wondering just how bad it really is?

id prefer to go with the brembos, only because i know they were super reliable in my integra.

it doesnt matter tbh, I have aftermarket auto-zone duralast rotors and they work perfectly fine. .

its your pads that make the noise.
just get some break grease, apply to the back of your pads before you install, and you will be good to go, make sure you also apply to the area where the pin goes thru the pad.

aftermarket pads may need special volvo shims due to over heating when not using *volvo* break pads.

rotors are rotors.

I don't think so, Volvo rotors are soft and cannot be cut.

it's not the hardness or softness of rotors that determine if they can be turned or not - it's the thickness they come at. Not sure what discard spec is on our rotors, but MOST new cars today come with rotora that are at discard spec. the reason they do this is because 1) it supports the repair industry 2) it makes the rotating assembly marginally lighter, and 3) it saves them a little bit of money per car on steel.

There's a thread over at MVS about most of the Brembo rotors nowadays are being made in China and are poor quality. I'd call FCP and ask them to pull a pair to find the "Made In" sticker before you buy them.

Check out FCP. They do a whole setup with ATE 302mm. Looks like a pretty good kit.

I want to upgrade mine, but i don't race every day. I feel the stock on a turbo 850 is WAY to small. I have experienced fade and feel the stop times are generally too long for a car of this weight.

I'm more interested in upgrading size over gimmicks like drilled holes and slots. (that's going to start an argument i know it...)

I know to look for better pads and change out the fluid too guys.

i'm just saying stock seems weak to me.

Let the pooh it the fan...
