Default Buying a 94 850

Okay. After trying to fix this 94' 850 GLT, the customer doesnt want her car anymore due to safety concerns because the car will stall while driving and at idle. So she is going to sell me at a reasonable price. Does the 94 have any pros and cons? Ill wil need a driver's door stay, possible Evaperator Replacement because it keeps leaking A/C, one rear speaker, antenna, trunk support shocks. I'm wondering if I can install later 850 models with the cd and cass unit? Will the arm rest with the cup holder fit? Just when I fix most of this, I can either keep the car or sell it but mostly keep since this will be our 4th Volvo to our family of volvos which includes 02' XC70, 91' 245, 83' 245.

Also wondering if anybody knows the features.

Any codes?
Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Perhaps it is fuel pump relay that is in the fuse box under the hood near the windshield of the driver. I had a similar stalling problem before changing it.

Also, remove the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve and clean it w/ carb cleaner.

1993 was the first year for the 850. The 1994 was a little better but still had some problems.
One was the Transmission. The others were minor but annoying.

Thinking that it's not a factory item I have high te,p silicone or gasket maker between my tranny and engine so I assume it has been out before. What is bad aboyt the tranny is it a complete lemon? Anything I can do to it or are there tell signs or preemptive steps to help it out?

Where mine has been out is there a date code or a model code which would tell me if I in fact have a 1994 transmission in the car?

I have already flushed about 10 litres of fluid through the tranny and have a good colour of fluid on the dip stick now. There was no signs of metal on the magnetic drain plug at all. It shifts fine on the road and on the ramp, although I have yet to put many miles on it since I've had it it seemed OK when I was driving it.

Thanks
-Mike

No real badge to tell date.

Is the sealer in the transmission or between the engine and trans?

actually come to think of it now i'm not sure if it was between the ranny and the engine or if it were an access panel for solenoids or something... can't really remember. it was just one of those things i noticed when it was up on a ramp. I just thought it was not original and that the tranny had been serviced some how before.

That is silicon sealer that they use from the Factory.

woah that seems pretty ghetto for a factory thing, i'd swear that they would have a gasket for those parts from the factory,

silicone sealer?, I thought only driveway monkeys like myself and "mechanics in a a pinch" used that stuff haha

guess not

Pretty much the same applies for your engine.
There is only one Gasket and that is the Headgasket.
