Default A/C problem

So, today was the first day I could really tell if my A/C is working.

It does.

To a point.

It will blow cold for a long time, but then the compressor will kick off for a moment or two, and then turn on.

You can definitely tell it works when its on...it just won't stay on.

Easy fix?

I figured there wasn't enough freon in the system.

Any help is appreciated.

See if it shuts off for like a couple of minutes. If so then test the wire to the compressor when it is off. If you still have power and it is off the clutch needs to be reshimmed I made a post on how to do it.

Well, my A/C is totally out. When I got it charged up the other day it, they turned it on and it sounded like some .38 rounds were in there firing off. So they shut it down and quoted me a price to have the compressor replaced. Ouch!!!

Sorry to hear that. You can get them online last I knew for like a little over $200.00.

The Volvo salvage yard in my area says they can install one from their yard for about $450. They usually warranty their work for a month or two so I'm gonna try that.

BTW, my car cleaned up really good today. I got all the tree sap off of it, used bug & tar remover to clean up other spots on the car, waxed it and used some Back to Black to do some trim clean up. I'm stylin now! It really looks good.
