Can a ripped intercooler pipe cause turbo dmg?
I was going through the batmobile and noticed a few things that i had been looking for among front impact damage to a deer in november 09.
I saw that "goofy intercooler piping with 3 outlets" was ripped where i could fit a few fingers through it if i pushed and the smallest opening wasn't attached to anything. Assuming the disconnect was from one of the 3 numbnut mechanics that gave/charged me for an estimate, but the rip was definitely the turbo issue. The car would accelerate as turbo spun up for 2.5 seconds before the boost gave out and then after 3 seconds repeat.
Am i looking at sustained turbo damage from a rip in the piping? This has probably been ripped since i bought it Aug 09.

If the turbo is still spooling up I would guess that it is ok for now. I wouldn't operate it much till you get it fixed though. I believe the most important things for the turbo is the lubrication and cooling of it.
