Default Can a worn turbo cause antifreeze burning?

I have antifreeze burning in my exhaust. GREAT...
I was think head gasket (car has 220k on it)
BUT- when I did c compression test here were the results.
1 2 3 4 5
160# 162# 165# 168# 170#
All looks good right?
I have NO water in oil or oil in water. It started steam on the exhaust after sitting at idle for about 15 minutes.
Thoughts???
Turbo has about 100k on the last reseal. Can the water seal leak into the combustion chamber or what??

Usually a turbo will not leak coolant into the exhaust. You might still have a bad head gasket. I would find someone that has the block test chemical kit and see if the head gasket is bad.

Oooh thats bad! I was hoping turbo- easy enough to replace.
I will look into the combustion gas kit...

Strange thing is I have NO overheating issues at all!
If it is a head gasket it is one of the more bizarre ones I have seen!

Hi I have the same problem as you car with water in the exhaust, What problem did you find, if any?

Take the spark plugs out and observe whether or not you can see evidence of coolant on them. If so, it is time for major surgery on the engine. Typically, the head will crack adjacent to the exhaust valve seat(s) if it does crack. The course of action is to have a machine shop do a pressure test on the head to see if it is cracked. If it is not cracked, you'll be able to have the head rebuilt and put it back on the car and go "Zoom-Zoom" again!

I think major surgery is in the offing. I will do that test. If the head is cracked then I assume that it is going to be horrifically expensive, a new head will be the only option I imagine?

Not necessarily horrifically expensive... a used head is where I'd turn if I were in that situation.

Booked into Volvo on Thursday for compression test. Fingers crossed it will be something else!

passed the compression test, and no obvious water on spark plugs!

Could the intercooler cause water to get into the cylinders, is the intercooler water cooled, or is it air to air?

some older Volvos used water cooled turbochargers. I'd think this could be a potential passage of coolant into the oil, and vice-versa.
