Hi guys,, well i've now gone to 5 different places to get an opinion for my 850GLE....
The problem i'm facing is that manifolds for my car all have the "flex" collector at the base with the plate and 4 holes where it hooks up to the cat.
My car doesn't have this flex in it and it just bolts on directly to the cat with 2 bolts....is this the normal manifold that came with the car? where can i find one? why is it so hard to get?

Chef, Seen your pics and this looks like a straght forward fix to me Take off the manifold and find a local welding shop and have them tig weld it up with a stainless rod or Crown 220. It has a mixture of nickel and stainless that will not corrode or work harden. I have used this tig rod for 15 years on manifolds.If you have no luck locating it, send me your address and I will mail you a stick. Let me know. Jim

 

update....

well today i went again to 3 differenct garages for advice on my exhaust..i also had contacted a guy selling used volvo parts. he had the same type of exhaust for my car..but after further discussion, he came to the realizaiton of what had happened to the exhaust....the manifold on the car is the right one, for 10 valave BUT right before where the flex fitting is supposed to be it had been cut off and the soild piece on the 20 valve on was welded on and it has the 2 bolt attachment on it..not the 4 one... on the cat. end, it has the 2 bolt hook up which i was told is from a 1993 model??? what the hay! anywho..now i'm stuck..i was thinking of getting the right manifold with the flex piece and 4 bolt hookup and a 1995 cat. system..what i don't know is, where the cat. starts and continues down the car, does it go off at an angel and travels undernith the drives side or does it go straight down the middle of the car?
secondly, my car has 1 o2 sensor..not 2..do they make a 1 oz sensor cat system or can i just get the 2 hook up one and just weld closed the second bung?

the other option is to do what the other owner did...get the 10Valve exhaust, cut off the flex and weld the metal part...

what i don't understand is why they kept the 1993 cat system? someone mentioned that the flex system is more weak then the solid metal of the 93 manifold...
