Default connecting rod bearings

Have 96, 850 with B5254S engine. need to replace rod bearings, OEM bearing part #271784 no fit. Current rods and cap have grooved mating surfaces, 2inches wide with recesses in one corner rceive notch in bearing, sides are machined for flanges on bearing.Informed some engines had this type of rod. Need source for bearings, Brand and part number. Local dealer and parts stores no help.

The tang in the rod is misleading as Volvo bearing are press/crush held in place. Scary when you think about it. The picture below shows turbo rods. You can see that the bearings do not fully cover the entire surface of the rod. You just sort of center them as you press them into place. When I look on rockauto's website I am seeing the same part number for both the turbo and N/A engine. After I replaced the rods in my engine my other 95 n/a spun a bearing. I used a bearing from the turbo engine in the N/A...and it worked. It failed later but that was due to the damage that had occurred previously to the crank journal.

This is the bearing I pulled out. It was wider than the turbo bearing but...I am not sure if it got smashed or if it was that big to start with.

Contact Don at Darrel waltrip Volvo with your engine numbers including serial and VIN, and he should be able to track down the proper parts.. Thats if you want OEM

If not go with the Toga set, ive never seen anyone have a problem with the toga bearings either
