Cutting Out 850 2.5 GLS
Hi there,
I have an 850 2.5 GLS and it has recently started acting up.
I've read around a few forums, and it seems that there is a fairly common desire to solve random cutting out by replacing the fuel pump relay.
What makes my situation a little different is the manner in which the car behaves after it's cut out.
Yesterday it cut out in the outside lane of a dual carriageway (nice), and I dragged it over to a lay-by. It started back up almost immediately (after a couple of attempts), and idled as if nothing was wrong. It would rev without an issue but it wouldn't like me drive. As soon as I engaged drive (auto) and gave it some gas, it cut out dead. After 10 mins with the ignition off, it then started and drove perfectly.
I've not yet got to playing with the diagnostic boxes to find fault codes, but I thought i'd take the longshot of someone knowing what caused this odd behaviour of idling and revving fine but not driving.
Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Dan, welcome to the forum.
Cutting out is cutting out. It could have something to do with the temp of the relay and giving it gas may cause the relay to switch or something. Either way, you need to read your codes and or trouble shoot by testing parts, like the fuel pump relay.
