I dont think the info switch has anything to do with the clock...maybe a loose wire?
Could be humidity got to it, idk how you would fix this...anyone got any ideas?

The clock is not tied to the info switch. But sounds like something is shorting out.
But you have to remove the top of the dash to get into the cluster.

Hey pal,

I had the same issue a month or so back. disconnect negative battery cable. Take dash apart. 2 torx screws in front of cluster, take out left side and 2 middle airducts, there is a screw in each one of those, and along side by drivers door there are two screws. Pull up dash and and disconnect tweeter speaker wire so that you dont end up tearing it. Pull cluster out and unplug all electrical connections, then replug them and attach battery cable and restart. You should be fine
Best of luck

so glad we're talking about this....

On my '95 850 estate I wanted to upgrade my trip computer... the one I had was just the clock and the temp... I have the Yakuza instrument cluster...so I did some digging and found the part number for the right one. Found it online, with the info. switch, and installed it. But nothing happened. It lights up when you turn the car on, everything displays for a second, and then it just goes to the clock.

So what i'm doing is trying to upgrade the trip computer... but it's not working. I have a feeling the issue is that my car isn't wired for it.... but I called a "Volvo Specialty" shop here in Denver and they said that it's all about ABS controller unit. That's what sends the info. about the speed and everything to the trip computer.

Does that make sense? Is there anything worth trying here? I would love to get this thing working, it was a pain in the *** to find the right one and installing it sucked... I'm so close! Can anyone help me out?
