What color is the smoke? White usually indicates coolant from a leaky head gasket and is usually accompanied by overheating and coolant loss. If the smoke is blue, it's from a leaky turbo, valves, or rings.

Your selection of performance parts should stem from what HP you're trying to attain.

And I don't understand your question about manual or stock.

I hope you have lots of wrenching experience to successfully rebuild your engine. It's too much work & $ to come up short after.

well thanks for your reply!

but anyways! its white and the smell of coolant through my vent system (no my heater core isnt leaking) and the lost of coolant but no overheating, which confuses me, so at the same im pointing at the turbo seals going bad, and i can also see coolant residue on the turbo exhaust housing.

As for HP im looking around 400-500 WHP! =)

and manual or stock as in conversion to manual! I dunno if i want to go there or not.

And as for experience, hmm yea... ahaha Im a tech at toyota, and at the same time studying to complete my ASE Certifications! =) Im more of the "Express Lube" guy but I do more then just oil changes =)

Your looking for 400-500 WHP!!???

Dont buy that engine then. Your going to have to do a complete rebuild and replace components. For that high of HP you may have to sleeve the engine. I think your goal is a little high. You can easily get into the 300-350 range with just add-ons and that will be a very fast car. The weakest point in the engine is the rods so if your going for some big HP you will need to replace the rods. You can re-ring, bearings, gaskets, seals, everything new in your engine for about $600.
As for switching to manual...yes, well worth it.

Here is a good read for you: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic...-dont-comment/

If you're going to rebuild to get MORE HP, this really doesn't matter but here you go:
