Feeble Air Con on 95 850 T5
Hi,
The climate control on my t5 does produce cold air, it just doesn't seem to produce that much of it especially when it's been running for a long time (6hrs etc).
The AC and REC lights flash for about 20secs when I start the engine but then go off. From what I've read this is an error code however I spoke to the dealer and they say it's working perfectly.
I really must change dealers (I don't use them normally but use a friend's garage instead) as they can't track down the cause of a fault light and also told me the extendable aerial shouldn't retract all the way into the car.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers
Iain

On the '95, you can pull the codes yourself from the B-side of the diagnostic. That will tell you why the AC & REC lights blink.

Cheers for the reply - I think I looked there as well, there is a box but it merely contains a load of wires which look like they go into the bottom of the ecu housing.
The Haynes says that for 96 onwards there should be a plug in that very position for some sort of diag tools but theres not that either.

I don't know when my car was produced - I know it was registered some time in 95, I'll see if I can dig out the V5c tomorrow.
I take it I have to remove some of the facia to get to it if it's next to the cigarette lighter? Will I still be able to read the codes without extra equipment.
I can follow a haynes for fairly simple stuff but tbh I'm not very mechanically minded. The problem is that ontop of me not having any money at the moment the stealer (sorry dealer) isn't interested.
The weird thing is that Haynes puts the plug for a reader next to the washer topup and I've been told here and found it in other places that the box is there on the earlier cars however on my there is nothing but wires.
I'll have another scout around the internet and see if I can post a pic tomorrow.
Many thanks
Iain
