Default rec air/air con

1996 850R "Platinum" edition.
Car was dead untill I got advise here and replaced MAS AIR SENSOR, running better than ever now + manual boost controller.

I noticed the rec air and air con led lightswere flashing last night, they stoped after a while. What does this mean? Also I read somwhere my car is governed @ 140 mph, how does the governor work and can i uncap it?

The flashing LEDs mean there has been a fault code set in the A/C ECU. The A/C may not function for the first 20 seconds or so but after that they work[&:]. If it were '93-'95 models, you could have reset them manually, but for '96 & '97, you would have to have it reset at the dealer. I do not believe a generic OBD-II scanner can access & reset A/C ECU.

I myself don't know how to undo the speed limiter. I assume it is programmed in the EEC, but others could tell you better on this one. I myself do not drive at or above 140mph, unless I'm trying to escape from a tornado.

Happy holidays,

JPN

If the A/C works after the blinking stops, I would leave it, because the dealer may charge you as much as $100 just to read codes & reset the ECU, only to find the thing blinking again 2 days later...

Good luck,

Why would anybody need, or even want to go more than 140 mph??? Or is it just so you can brag to your friends that you went over 140 mph in your Volvo??

no way i would go that fast. I just think there's somthing wrong about governors. Take that attitude about them and next thing you know were limitedto 100.

Quick question... Im wondering if my car is running to lean. After driveing for a while the down pipe right after the turbo gets glowingRED hot and partially down the pipe as well.Im thinking it cant be good for the turbo, I could be wrong.

I'd get that fixed asap, I had the same problem with a Ford Probe, and it ended up popping the heads off the bolts going into the engine. It was not a fun job getting those out, and then I didn't realize why it was getting red hot and continued to drive it, and they started popping off again! After that I sold the darned thing.

Check for a really bad vaccum leak or a bad o2 sensor,Mass flow sensor.

I got a code that came up, somthing about the o2 sensor. Im guessingn its located somwhere under the hood. Should I replace it? Can it be cleaned? Thanx Tech.

The O2 snesor is in the exhaust pipe close to the motor. That is the front one.
The rear o2 is behind the Cat Converter.
I would just replace.

would the rear one cause this? I have a open down pipe right after the first one because i took the cat off the hollow it out and havent welded it back together yet...

Anotherquestion, regarding a small hard plasticline thats disconnected. It runs up directly in front of the engine fan next to a tree that has small soft oil lines connected to it. Is this an A.C. line?Ill post a picture of it later.

Happy Holidays.

Maybe the rear would cause it.

I will have to see a pick of the hose.
