Default a few small issues...

hi all,

I have a 1996 850 r, and i have a few questions with some small repairs..

1. i pulled the stock radio out to put in a deck. noticed that the stock radio had an S-video cord plugged into it. i dont know what it is for. Do i need it plugged into my new stereo?

2. i have seen this in other threads, but please bare with me. my speedometer occasionally craps out. along with my odometer. i have seen a couple things posted including replacing the abs sensor. is that how it works? if so, what all do i need, parts wise, to do so. would this be the part:
http://www.theautopartsshop.com/auto...ed-sensor.html

3. my rear wiper on the hatch is not working. the fluid will pump but the wiper does not go at all. is this a motor issue or maybe signal to the motor. I havent needed it, i just noticed that it doesnt work. I wouldnt mind removing it if there was an easy good looking way.

4. quick question... what spark plugs and wires do you suggest? remember its the 850 r.

thanks a ton. this forum is great.

1. I doubt the S-video cable is OEM. There is a factory amp with a Din cable you will need to bypass. That is easy though. Follow the wiring straight back some. You will see a plug that has or had foam wrapped around it. Unplug that and use the other cable. The part that plugs into the radio is part of the amp wiring by is only a harness that goes in between the radio and amp.

2. I would say you need to repair/replace your ABS module. There is a thread here to repair it your self.

3. The motor might be the issue. You will need to pull the panel and check for power at the motor.

4. If you are still stock or slightly modded go OEM plugs and Bougicord wires.

Now, this is going to sound utterly ridiculous..my speedometer and odometer just stopped working too..just for grins..I unplugged the ABS module sprayed some WD 40 on the connectors..plugged it back in and the thing started working again..don't ask me why..but it did. I've done this twice now in the past 3 mos and like Timex it keeps ticking. Saved me a lot of money so far since it cost 199.00 to get a refurbished ABS Module. One time it stopped working while I was driving and about 10 minutes later it just started working again on it's own. There probably is a loose connection, but I have no Idea where it is. Good Luck and Happy Motoring !!!

The small S-video looking plug is for the CD changer. Some cars are prewired...sounds like your one of them.
