engine code. should be an ID tag, either an emission tag or vin tag, in your engine bay. It should be a B5234T

I dont have vadis installed to verify...tech should be able to.

Also check into pelicanparts.com once you get part number, which I could get once I install vadis.

well i think i found why it was idling like crap. 3 vacuum lines were unplugged the 2 going for the waste gate and one going from right past the MAF sensor to a sensor. would these lines have affected it? also where is the best place to tee in a line for my boost guage?

That can effect the idle.
You can tap into the vacuum tree on the intake for the boost gauge. But if you have a stock gauge you can tap in under the dash as well.

For the engine serial number it will be hard to see but it is in the block. If you look down like right behind the timing cover and like just below the exhaust manifold it should be there.

You have to pull the intake manifold off. There are very good instructions in the Frequently Used thread stuck to the top of this forum. I printed them out when I did mine and had them with me in the garage. Make sure you don't take the bottom bolts all the way out on the intake manifold. It's really not that easy of a job, but doable. Give youself plenty of time.

Nothing will really happen. The intake is notched on the bottom to slide over the bolts.

What year is it? Do they use the 13g or the 15g turbo?

My volvo does the same, it blows big clouds of blue smoke after idling for a while. I also have the oil puddling up everywhere on the engine especially around the plugs. I thought it was turbo seals so i baught a new turbo. the turbo turned out to be a 16t from a t-5 or v70 or something. can i still make it work on my 96 850 turbo?

Yes that turbo will work on your car. I would do a vent system service and make sure all the vent system hoses are in good shape.

Should bolt on unless the exhaust housing is different. Even then you can swap it with the existing one. Bolt it on and have fun. The difference with the 16T over the 15G does not require any other modifications.

I would do a pcv system replacement and an oil cap gasket.

You don't need any thing, the 16T should be a straight housing, same as your 96, also assuming the 16T didn't come with an angle, some did. Also, the 15G and 16T are pretty much identical.

94/95 Turbo: conical 15G
96/97 T-5: straight 15G
97 GLT: straight 13G
