Default Fixing a oil pan drain plug

What would be the best way to repair a stripped oil pan drain plug WITHOUT replacing the pan?

use a thread tap to make a larger threaded hole, then put in an oversized plug. Some places sell oversize plugs that have the tap built onto the end. install according to manufacturer instructions.

Google time cert! It's a drainplug repair/ replacement for aluminum pans. You install an insert the same as factory but steel. Holds up better we do it all the time at work on the aluminum pans mostly when the crush washers aren't changed in several consecutive oil changes! It works and better than buying a pan!
