front brake issue, bad vibrations at *slow* stop
#42
front tires have about 9k miles on them, rear tires are at 70%. no wobbling at low speeds. when the wife gets home, im going to check behind the passenger side wheel, as the worn motor mount makes the most sense now.

neutral smooth BUT when you put it in drive now it has a load on it ! Bad CV joint or some idiot went to tow it and bent the axel by chaining it fron the axel . put it on jack stands put it in gear and see if you can see anything wrong

sounds logical, however, the vibrations i feel when in D or R have been there ever since i purchased the car over a year ago. plus, i swapped out both axles about 10k miles ago.
ive been checking the service history on the car (got the last 8 years on it from the guy i bought it from) and the last notation indicates that they recommend replacing the transmission mount in the future.. something to check out tomorrow i suppose.

when im moving and not moving in neutral, its really smooth. once i put into R or D, it starts vibrating a little (tranny is engaging), but nothing that would cause a distraction or make you question if the vehicle is safe/operating normally.
windows up or down, its the same. smooth sailing in neutral, slight vibration in R or D.

2- Repeating another question: do you hear anything. I am not talking about what you feel, but what do you hear?
3- One more question: does it happen when the car is cold, hot or both?

1- You still have not answered the simple question: moving or not moving? I understand it only happens in D or R, the question is -- Does it happen when you are moving (you said at 3 mph) or stopped (and idling) or both?

3 -irrelevant. the vibration issue im having happens anytime from 3mph - 0mph, no matter if the car is hot or cold.

You do understand that we are trying to help you, right?

that was my nice way of saying i have answered your questions, repeatedly, sans question 3, already.
i shall reiterate once more:
i feel nothing now, except when slowing down from 3mph to a complete stop. no pulling, no vibrating in the steering wheel, nothing on the brakes. it happens when the car is hot or cold, when its been sitting for half the night then started up and driven down the road, it happens when the cars been running all day.
this is really irritating for someone like me (who is overly analytical).. so forgive me if i come off as crass and rude.

I had a vibration in one of mine when I first got it until I had the upper motor mount changed. It had an aftermatket on it and I replaced it with an OEM. I hate when I can not track down something simple too. I have not read the entire thread so if this is covered previously, sorry.

Have you pulled the wheel and checked the mount there? Also, harder upper mounts do transmit vibration into the cabin. It also happens when mounts are flat out blown or torn through. You can look at the upper transmission mount and see if it's torn, you can also grab & pull on it to see if it is torn through.

Yeah you wont be able to SEE warping on your rotors, unless they're absolutely destroyed. A couple thousandths of an inch will give you a vibration. I'm with hookus here....even when i get new rotors, I put them on a lathe and at least make sure there's no runout on them.
