Default gearbox not lighting up without a smack

850 GLE automatic...for u guys that helped with the recalls. After I got it done lately the gearbox doesn't light up right away...i smack it and the light comes on. Makes me suspect the dealership ****ed up sumwhere...

I was wondering if anyone has this problem and if so how do I solve it?

It's easy to get under there and inspect the bulb. Need a walkthrough? You could also buy a cheap LED and switch to a new color if you're that enthused.

I bet the bulb is going bad.
It is not all that hard to get the console out.
Lift the console lid in the bottom there is a cover with 2 8MM screws or t-25 screws. Remove them.
Then under the ashtray there is 2 t-25 screws going through the cover into the console. Remove them and take the panel out. Then down lower there is 2 t-15 screws remove them and then remove the gray and black plugs and the console will comeout. Then you can see the bulb.

I didn't get a chance to open up the gearbox area yet...but I had it happen to my climate control area the switch for the heater went out and came back with a smack ><

Are the lightbulbs dying or is it sumthing else?

The A/C ones you will need to remove the module and open it if it is the electronic module. If it is the manual it is not that bad.
