Default harsh transmission engagement

Just purchased a 95 850 turbo sedan with 99,000 miles. After driving for awhile, it makes a harsh audible clunk when I put it in reverse; as if something in the transmission is forcefully engaging. It does not do this when the engine is cold or when I put it in drive. It only happens after I have driven it for a distance. I checked the trans fluid and it is at the prober level and does not seem burnt or very dark or anything. Im wondering if this is a sign that the trans. is going bad or reverse is going out. If the trans. is bad, what are some options for the 850 turbo trans? Can it be rebuilt ect. and is this typically a costly repair for labor etc? Im considering getting rid of this vehicle at this point, but it drives great and the engine runs great.

Change the fluid and lower torque mount.

I had a car that was doing that and it is still running strong, 2 years later. If you let it sit in neutral for 5 seconds I may not bang so hard.

l do have the same problem.l changed the fluid and transmission torque mount and still get the harsh bang.all l do is hit on the brakes real hard when putting it into reverse.l dont really feel the harsh bang doing that.but l am still looking at finding a solution to that and l will let you know what ever l come up with

Hate to say it, but its amazing what can happen if you press hard enough on the brake while shifting!

Our 1995 Turbo has 231,000 miles and has been doing this for the last 6 years and 90,000 miles with THREE teenagers driving 90% of that time. I have done several fluid changes, changed all mounts, etc and no help. Bottom line, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
