Okay someone please tell me what is up, when you can open the door from the outside of the vehicle and enter the car just fine. But once in the car you can not open the door with the inside handles. Also if the key is inserted in the ignition the door chime never stops chiming. If anyone has the answer to this question i would greatly appreciate it.

 

I'd say two seperate problems;

Do all of the inside handles malfunction, or just the drivers-side? If just the drivers, I'm thinking the mechanism in the door is bad.

Never ending chime - if you wiggle the key does the noise go away?

 

I think 2 problems to.
1. The rubber bushings for the rod in the latch for the inner door handle fell apart. Then the rod fell out. I have fixed 3 out of 4 of the doors on my car. There is a part number I have to find for the bushings. Volvo will sell you a latch for the 850 to fix it. But I have found bushings from a 740 door latch setup that are the bushings the factory uses for the 850 latch. You can buy them for the 740 but not the 850.

2. Check the fuse for the dome lights. If the fuse blows the chime will stay on all the time.
