Default Huge Vacuum issues...

So got this 97 (9/96 mafg date) that someone installed a new engine on. They didnt know what they were doing I guessed and there are all sorts of vacuum lines unplugged and and that is just the beginning of the problems but it is running like garbage and I suspect that is the main issue.

was wondering if someone has a good detail diagram or pictures of where all the vacuum lines go. I really need to get this thing running correctly. I have gone through all the pics and diagram on google and cant figure out where everything needs to go to. I am sure that I will end up going to volvo to buy a bunch of the parts I need but we will see

This is a 97 with the na 5 cyl motor. 4 door no sunroof. thanks for all the help in advance.

LMGTFU?

The good news is the NA is somewhat simpler than the turbo...

Here's a good post to look at -

https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...diagram-48749/

I'd start by looking at the vacuum tree to make sure the unused stems are capped. Even on my 95 Turbo there's two stems that are stubbed with caps, so I'd suspect the NA have two or more stems that are not in use. Next is to look for air leaks on the intake. You can try misting with water or carb cleaner etc to see if it gets sucked in. Finally there's the smoke test which will show you those hard to see tubes - partcularly the line that goes down to the flame trap (PCV system) and to the EVAP (that's the line that traces down low and may need to be inspected from under the car). Does your car have the original vacuum diagram sticker on the hood or cowling etc? I'd start by working on getting familiar with the parts that actuated by a vacuum line. Also this pic may help (its for the 960 but the system design is similar as its also an NA motor)

Be sure to look at the vacuum diagram on the underside of the hood. very important.
