Default Key gets very hot

When I stop the car and remove the key from the ignition I usually notice that the key is very hot, about 50-60 degrees celsius. Is that an indication of a faulty ignition switch? I don't have any electrical problems in the car that I know of.

Regards

Hello Axel,

32C shouldn't make the key that hot at all. Are there any other parts thatarehot around the ignition switch? There may be ashort circuit, though usually fuseblows first.

I haven't heard of this problem, so a bit more research may be required. But as long as you don't see smoke or smell something like melting plastic, it's probably ok.

32 might make it a little warm but shouldn't be HOT.

I just came back from New Year's vacation, and I travelled with my other car since the 850 A/C isn't working. I'll be monitoring the key temp a bit closer and posting here again.

Thanks
