Default Leaking Oil

Allright, here is the deal, I have oil leaking out of my fill cap pretty heavily on my 95 850 turbo wagon. I also have vapor (looks kinda like steam) coming out of both my oil fill cap and my dipstick tube. My question is this: is my PCV system completely shot? Or do I just need to replace my Oil Fill cap gasket? I don't want to replace that gasket only to have it blow my rear main seal or something. Any advice is helpful, thanks in advance.

Oh, yeah, anybody need the lense to the driver's side turn signal (front)? I got the whole assembly because I needed the 'guts' and now have a good lens. Anyone can have it for the price of shipping.

You have to service the PCV system. Until you do that you should drive with the dipstick out to release pressure. You can change the filler gasket if you want but that is irrelevant right now.

Thanks Axlem, I just wanted to be 100% sure before I dug into the project. Anything Else I should do while I am in there? I am assuming the intake manifold gasket, oil fill cap seal, and the dipstick o-ring, but is there anything else that is easier to do with the manifold off?

Is the procedure for cleaning the PCV system on a turbo model different then on a normally aspirated model? I would assume there are several differences. Interested in knowing as well as if there is a good written procedure on how to do this on a Turbo model. Our 95 is running fine, but with 181K on the clock, I'm sure the system is dirty at best.

fcpgoton sells two kits one for the turbo model and one for the NA. The instructions look to be a little different, but not drastically.

IMO, it´s simple enough to just pull parts and put the new ones in. My only doubt is the intake manifold gasket. Is that glued on? What kind of chemical is used to keep that in place?

The intake gasket is just sandwitched between the intake and motor.

I would replace the PCV as a kit rather than cleaning it. Make sure to buy intake manifold gasket as you need to remove it. Also, be sure to buy the filler cap gasket & oil dipstick O-ring. Go to FCP Groton or eEuroparts; in the case of Groton, see "Tune-up" section to locate the filler cap gasket & O-ring.

Is your timing belt ok? If it has more than 70,000 miles or 5 years, replace it without even thinking. I would also replace pulleys.

Good luck to you,
