Default long starts

when I start my car i have to hold the gas down to the floor (aprox 10 secs) or it may not start. Once and a while it starts on a dime or if it has just been running. I just bought an 02 sensor as it has been running super rich and my milage has hit the the floor. But i doubt this has anything to do with it . But it may have to do with the computer, someone told me as it may be confuzeled but...

Does it crank slow? My starter got "tired" after about 130K mls and I was having intermittent hard starts; rebuilding the starter fixed it!

Having to add throttle on start may indicate that the fuel pressure regulator has failed. When the FPR in my 740 failed, it ran rich. Pull the vacuum hose off the regulator, and look/smell for fuel. If there is ANY, replace the fuel pressure regulator first.

You should never have to touch the throttle to start a fuel injected car.

Exactly. Needing to would indicate a bad FPR, maybe a bad MAF (will set a check engine light), or something like that.

I vote for bad FPR as well.

Cat's used to get plugged when peps would burn regular LEADED fuel in their "unleaded only" vehicles, it was cheaper, bet it's not plugged.
