Multi-function switch (turn signal) replacement tips
had the stalk break on the turn signal switch (proof my daughter actually uses it...) on the 850. Thought I'd write up some helpful hints:
0. Tools required T25 torx bit, a long T15 torx screw driver, and small flat blade screw drivers.
1. release the steering column lock and pull the wheel up and all the way out. reset to lock.
2. On the lower cover there are 2 T15 screws near the wheel. They are recessed about 3-4 inches so you will need the T15 screw driver to a longer model. Loosen the screws while holding the upper and lower covers in place to avoid breaking the plastic near the screw mounts.
3. on the lower cover there are also 2 T25 screws about 2-3 inches from the wheel. Remove both.
4. release the column lock and lower the wheel. Remove the upper cover by pivoting the front (by the wheel) up - there's two tabs on the dash side that pop out by pressing out the lower cover.
5. Remove the lower cover. You need to work off the gaskets and around the key.
6. Remove the 2 T25 bolts holding the multi function switch/stalk.
7. Use the two flat blades to unclip the connector from the switch and to separate the wire harness connector (that's where the clips can be tricky).
8. reinstall new switch to the column with the 2 T25 bolts making sure the wires have routing to not get in the way of the cover during reinstall.
9. reinstall bottom cover, checking for placement near wheel and key and making sure wiring harness isn't in the way.
10. reinstall top cover by having wheel all the way out and down, then press in the back end's tabs into the lower cover.
11. press together for placement, getting the gaskets in place etc.
12. reinstall two t15 screws and two t25 screws to hold lower cover to the column.
