Lightbulb My fog lights are useless...

I have an '95, 850 R with I guess the standard turbo spoiler on it. The fog lights that are in the spoiler appear to be stock but they are useless as far as I can tell. When I'm driving down the road, I turn them on, and I see absolutley no change. None at all. So I dropped the garage door and adjusted them, well, the passenger side one, and it still does not make a difference.

While trying to adjust the drivers side one the light assemply came apart in my had. I could not locate them on iPd, eBay or anywhere else so far. But I'm not sure it's even worth fixing if they do not make some kind of contribution in lighting up the road, the sides or something.

They do not mount flush in the spoiler either, they sit about 1/4 or 1/2 inch back. Is there something I can do to fix this situation or do I need to start over with another pair. I went and got some kind of high temp welding stuff from Wal-Mart to try to fix the left one that I broke. Did not see any bracket or anything to cause them to sit flush in the spoiler.

They are supposed to sit pretty much flush. They really to not help much at all with light.
They are also hard to find used and really expensive new.

I need a good set for my car then I was planning on going HID in the foglights to make them where they will help.

So they do have a cutoff! But anyways, all of the ones I've seen on a T5R have sit flush. It's supposed to have some sort of shroud I guess around it.

Tech:

I love my Hyundai Fogs . 4300K HID in themmmmmm

Only the non r bumpers have the black plastic shrouds around them.

Yes I like HID all the way.

Really? The T5-R up here in Washington with the R bumper had them IIRC.

Then they added them for no reason.

All of the other Volvo's that I have had, the fogs were helpful. Mainly with a wider lit view area. When I hit the switch, I would be able to see off the road better, like super wide angle. These, I see absolutely no benifit in having them or using them. Volvo's have a reputation for putting useful things in their cars.

I don't want fogs in the car just so people can see them glowing at night or for something else to fix WHEN it breaks. Fogs are suppose to have one of two purposes, to shoot a longer beam down the road or to shoot a wide angle. I guess I'll cover my head lights and go down the road to see if they are shooting light down the road.

They are even projectors. But I think the problem is that they are mounted way to low to really do much of anything.

I guess that would be the fogs that shoot a far narrow beam. Here is an example of what I expect from fog lights. They should always shoot low, like bumper line or below. But have some kind of purpose.

Oh yea, the light I had in my had this morning, it appeared to be broken. The round lense on the inside appeared to have cracks on the lense. But the otter light lense was fine. Did not understand how that could be.

Me either. I also expect the same as you espically since they are projectors.

Actually they are not "Projectors" as we all know. These are just reflectors with a cutoff. They don't have the dome bulb that "Projects" the light out and flips it around.

Yes they do. The dome lense is behind the otter lense. It is my dome lense that appears to be cracked. I had the thing apart in my hand this morning.

There is a dome glass inside that acts as a magnifying glass. I used to have a lens from inside one but do not have it anymore.

Hum, they must of not had it then. that's weird. I never thought they'd stick projectors on a car back then.

I could not believe they started projectors in 1995.
