Default my new 850 turbo wagon

Some of you may remember me as a different user when I was looking for a "Platinum Ed wagon" well that turned out not to be a Plat wagon, but here is the 850 Turbo 96 I put the deposit down on. Total price is $4275

Have a look and tell me what you think. I also think that the car may have damage on the front bumper passenger side. Even though the dealer wrote me "As for minor accidents, this 850 wagon is free of them."
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Yes the bumper looks down a little.
The rest looks pretty good.

I certainly do not like that this indicates the car was in a accident when the dealer stated "As for minor accidents, this 850 wagon is free of them"
I am concerned that this damage may have cause more damage underneath. I suppose I will have to look at it myself and decide. But given that price I may or may not proceed with the purchase and already feel cheated.
Thanks for any help and advice.

I would inspect it good. You never know someone might have removed the bumper cover and missed some screws going back on so look it over good. If it is like mine then you will know right away. Mine is all crinkled underneath. Here is a pic of how much mine is off.

Also notice my tow hook is way off.

Thanks. Carfax may not show everything. I had a friend whose car was totaled, 4 years later the carfax was clean no accidents reported. To me it seems the car had a accident and the emails from the dealer are very fishy. In my eyes it comes close to fraud read the emails:

Hi All of our Volvos are free of major problems such as floods
or rebuilt titles. We do not sell such vehicles. As for minor
accidents, this 850 wagon is free of them. The interior is
beautiful, no rips or tears, just like all of our Volvos. The
pictures should be up on our website in the next couple of days and we
will email when they are.

[/align] Hi - What I may have told you is that the Carfax report shows no accidents, and the car is a clean title, indicating no major accidents. I never, tell anyone a vehicle has never had even a minor accident because those usually don't show up on a Carfax report. Minor accidents are common, especially on a vehicle that has been on the road for almost 13 years. We look for the cleanest Volvos in the area, and pride ourselves on finding them, however, to find a 1996 wagon that hasn't even had the slightest of "fender benders" is almost impossible. The vehicle has no evident frame damage, a clean Carfax report and no evidence of any major incidents. But again, I never tell anyone what you are stating, and personally, I take offense to that. Simply because I always tell my customers the entire story on a vehicle, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But there are certain things I know I don't ever say.

Thank You,

Yes seems kind of a little fishy.
Can your friend that lives in the area go look at it?

Carfax will not tell you accident reports. For some reason, when ever I looked up a car i know was in an accident...nothing.

Define a "minor accidnet" for me....$1000 in damage.....$10,000 in damage?

It still looks nice though.

a minor accident is any accident even a bump into a parking pillar. What is not a accident are paint scratches for example.
But any accident especially when it is visible should be made aware of by the dealer to the customer. And in my case it was not.
Otherwise what is the point buying from a dealer if accidents are being lied about and covered up?
I don't think I will proceed with the purchase at this point and demand my deposit back based on those lies.

I thoughta dealer is required by law to tell you everything about a car on their lot?

Well, I went to the dealer and inspected and test drove the car. The seats are ok, but the door panels are horrible, the leather is partially chewed out like pieces are missing and some parts someone tried to fill it in with some sort of leather filler, looks horrible. The dash is cracked in the front.
After I test drove it I pointed out all the flaws including the crooked bumper that is held up to the fender by a long screw. What a Mickey Mouse job!
I feel deceived by this dealer Vehicle Ville in Miami.
I demanded my deposit back after I slept over my purchase decision. Got the following email:

"Your visit to our location on Friday, 10/31/08, supercedes any prior email communications. You visibly inspected the vehicle as well as test drove the vehicle. You stated to us that you were continuing your
transaction and we agreed to have the front bumper adjusted for you. We continued to hold the vehicle for you on your deposit after your visits to our location.

Again, your physical visit to our location and agreeance to follow through with your transaction SUPERCEDES anything that was said or done prior to that.
Thank You,

I object to your last email and disagree that my visit to your
dealership supersedes any written email communication in regards to
the vehicle.
When I was at your dealership and inspected the vehicle I pointed out
all of the damages. And as I had pointed them out I had told you that
I did not feel happy about the vehicle's condition and it having so
many flaws and an accident.
Therefore I did and still do feel betrayed by the email and phone
conversations we had. You were very well aware of the fact in what
condition the vehicle was in because you purchased it, you saw and
inspected it. You chose not to disclose any of the flaws of the
vehicle to me. Therefore such practices for you as a licensed dealer are deceptive and deceiving per the DUTPA Deceptive and Unfair Trade
Practices Act. Again I demand my deposit in the total amount of $500 be refunded back
to my credit card by no later then 11/5/08.
Thank you,
best regards,

You put this on a credit card? Why not call and cancel the payment?

Sounds like they lied about it being in an "accident"
I would tell them if they don't refund your money, that you will take them to court (I know it sounds like cali talk, but itis the only way to deal withdifficult people).
Good luck

Also check out small claims, it's a painless way for you to sue, my state is around $30 not sure what yours is. Is the car local to you? (I can't remember)
