Name that part!
title says it all.
I also tried connecting obd2 reader to car, it wouldnt connect. Then the radiator fan kept running when vehicle was not running and cold. i`m selling the car this week. Just curious as to what these parts are though.

Number 1 is nothing - I just redid my cylinder head and nothing goes there. Number 2 is part of the vent system. Number 3 is the noise maker for your car alarm .
I could not imagine selling my 850. I'm going to keep it 'till I'm dead. Then my kids will fight over it.

look at the fan relay for your fan problem.
OBD not connecting, might not work anyway. 1995 and older models that had a OBDII hook-up do not retrieve codes that way, but the flashing light system under the hood. -- located just left looking at the engine of the power steering pump.

When our fan ran non stop it was the temp sensor. What is the temp gauge doing on the dash? Is it hard to start? If you have a OBD-II reader, check the live data, or unplug the temp sensor and see if it stops.
Thanks.
I came across the car by happenstance, i might buy another one in the future. I think the smart decision is to sell this one.
obd2 wont connect as stated, so cant check any data. @ Lifesgoodhere, why would i have an obd2 port but not be able to use it? ill google and try to find out how to read the codes via obd1
i`ve only had the car started once since i bought it 2 weeks ago. It started and ran fine for 3-5 minutes then the engine revved up a tiny bit for 2 seconds and then just died . You have to wait a long time before you can get it running again, hours.
I`ll let the next owner fix it and tell me what the problem was. Its a nice car, 1996 850 turbo manual , fully loaded, 260,000 km

I'd check your fuses to see if you might have one blown. I had someone tell me but now I can't remember what circuit the power to the OBDII comes from. Might be the courtesy light circuit but I'd check them all just in case. If it doesn't recognize the vehicle or says not connected it might be the power circuit to the connecter is dead. What exactly does the code reader say when you hook it up to that port ??
The No. 2 in your photo is the big hose that leads down to the PCV system under the intake. It's called the oil separator box in the first picture.

Not seeing anything in the engine bay for obd1. got a pic of location and what it looks like?
yeah, i was checking fuses as i read that as well. didnt feel like pulling them all. They should put breakers in these things.
edit : just checked the fuses, they're all good.

Here is a shot of the panel. It's over by the windshield washer reservoir.
I think these are a little overkill but it was handy when I blew a fuse at night. I've swapped out all my fuses to this type.
