noise at two o'clock on highway
Sometimes, just sometimes, it happens a strange noise at two o'clock (might be 3 o'clock as well) from drivers seat. It usually occurs when I drive my 850 turbo wagonat 120 -130 kph. If I slow down it vanishes. Any clues??
Hello Mauricio,
I too am a bit confused as to the clock position. Did you mean the steering, or actually the seat itself? If the latter, the rear wheel alignment may be very slightly off or other problems related to the rear wheel/suspension.
Please clarify the clock position so that people, including Johnny (a Volvo dealer technician) could help you better.
Cheers,
JPN

Right front wheel bearing?? Also, this sounds weird but check the black tape on the roof trim. I had a loose chunk once that made a funny noise on the highway @ 65 MPH. I scraped it off and the noise was gone

I still enjoy offering support where I can since I know how expensive Volvo repairs can be.
Hi Johnny,
I apologise, no offense
.
You may be working on Volvos for less than a year, but you have great experience on other makes, which I respect. And in no time you'll have mastered Volvos.
Please keep us supported!
With respect,

Hi,
I'll provide assumptions for 2 possible cases:
1. NOISE FROM THE SEAT ITSELF:
Something may be loose and there's nothing to worry about, as long as the seat functions normally. If it bothers you, try wiggling the seat to see if it cures. If not, you may need further investigation and the power seat motor(s) or the seat bottom mount to the rail/bolts that hold the railmay be loose.
2. NOISE YOU HEAR AT 2-3 O'CLOCK POSITIONS INSIDE THE CABIN AS YOU SIT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT:
It is most likely due to loose interior trim panels, which is somewhat commonto Volvos. It could be anywhere, such as the glove box lid, plastic (ABS) trim pieces, etc... If your car has moon-roof, it may also be coming from the moon-roof; check to see if the Torx screws that hold the roof glass are tight.
I hope this helps.

Folks! Mystery uncovered: A rotten subframe mount (left lower) was the cause of the noise. Now the black shadow is back in perfect shape! Now you guys will understand that this mount is just about two o'clock from the drivers seat position.
Thanks for all suggestions and patience.
