Default Oil cooler (do the non turbo models have them)

Does anyone know if the non-turbo 850's come with oil coolers? If not is there a plate or something on the block were the oil thermostat would normally be? I am considering a different oil cooler system that cools the oil before entering the turbo and want to block off my old leaky oil cooler block. Anyone do this before?

I'm not sure but you don't want oil that is to cool entering the turbo all the time. The turbo needs the oil to be a certain temp for long life. Volvo advises against going into boost before the motor reaches operating temp to avoid turbo wear.

Sounds like you're taking a really complicated and unnecessary route to a simple problem.

Where is it leaking?

I am on my second set of lines, now the new ones aren't sealing good in the thermostat block. I took it off this last time, cleaned it all out and it seems like the lines have seated good and the metal clip that holds the lines in is new and tight as it will go. (but the lines still seem to rotate in the assembly easily) Last time it was like that it was still leaking. Just getting a little tired of repairing random constant oil leaks from one place or another. Not to mention that one little clip is all that comes between you and all of your oil dumping out. I would expect more out of a company known to over engineer everything.

The lines should have rubber "O" rings sealing the line - thermostat interface. Are the "O" rings installed and in good condition ?

Did you ever find the leak? Have a 850 with the same problem .. kinda thinking its coming behind the timing cover

best thing to do is pop off the timing cover (there's one 12mm bolt in the center) then it'll wiggle out and slide up. Check to see if there's an oil coming from the cam seals or the front main. Leaky cam seals are often caused by clogged PCV systems so do a rubber glove test to confirm you don't have some extra work. As with any oil leak, start by cleaning as best you can, then recheck to see if you can find a source.
