My parking brake does not work. I checked the adjustment at the back rotors and it is good, I even redid the adjustment to make sure. The handle feels like it has plenty of tension, but it does not actuate the shoes. What could be the problem here? Is the cable just stretched out or broken? How hard is the cable to change?

I have the same problem and I think it's the shoes.

I know it's not healthy for the brakes, but try pulling the handle while the car is running at 20mph. Try to hear if there is a screething noise.

 

When i pull my e-brake at 5 mph I hear a screech. Does this mean bad shoes?

Also, I feel almost no tension in the brake. Is that just a simple tightening fix?
