Radio Locked ??
Hi, I am picking up a 850 GLT Non-Turbo wagon the first week of February and when I went to look at it last night and tried to turn on the radio it didn't work. The guy said it was because the battery negative cable was left off at one point too long. I know this can happen on a lot of cars with anti theft things. The negative battery cable is really loose and needs a new clamp. If the radio is locked and I obviously don't have the code since the car came from a auto auction.. is there anyway to unlock it ?
Thanks
Thanks
You will need to get the radio code from a dealer. If is says code then you can just punch it in. If it says off then you need to leave the key in the 1st position for about 2 to 3 hours till it says code then punch it in.
You might get lucky and the previous owner wrote it out with a Sharpie on top of the radio. All of mine have had that treatment. It will be a 4 digit code with numbers between 1 and 6.

Thanks everyone, the radio says Off so I guess I'll have to do the key left in for 2-3 hours then wait for code to show up. And then off to a dealer most likely or I can see if its imprinted on the top of the radio who knows.
One thing to keep in mind some of these older cars have had radios swapped out. So if the code you get for you VIN does not work, you can take the serial number off the radio itself and the code from that number as well. Some dealers will actually give you the code over the phone and others won't. In everyone I have bought it has been in the booklet with the owner's manual.
