96 850 SW, The radio says "OFF" and the anti theft light blinks regularly, so I know at least part of the unit is getting power. But when I push the power button nothing happens except the "OFF" disappears. This just happened starting a few weeks ago, after decades of faithful service. What could be the problem?

 

Do you know the code for your radio? If so, try disconnecting (either the back connector or the battery) and see if it will give you the chance to enter the code. If that doesn't work its the head unit. The fact you are getting to see OFF in the LED says you are getting power

 

The CODE display doesn't come up. Nothing happens when I turn it on.
So what constitutes the "Head Unit"? I have the radio pulled out and most covers removed.
