replacing the rear main seal

replacing the rear main seal
I bought a 1995 350 turbo and have a ton of replacement parts sitting at home from what I've read on this forum. However, to my dismay I saw couple oil drops on the garage floor (I'll make sure the oil drops aren't coming from any where else first of course). Could someone tell me about how much replacing the rear main seal costs? I just want to make sure I don't get over-charged from the dealer. Thanks.

RE: replacing the rear main seal
Rear Main Seal: I just got mine replaced today and it was bad. My car has 160K. I got mine from NAPA autoparts for $44. My mechanic told me and showed me the cost by a book he has at $532 approx labor. I ended paying $600 in labor; and he replaced the seal, top engine mount (ipd poly. upgrade), Cap/Rotor Kit including Denso Iridium plugs, front disk rotors and PBR break pads. The car runs great now and I can fill it with more power. $230 spent in parts including $44 seal.
Last year he also took down the turbo cleaned it and replaced it seals with Ipd's kit. at a cost of $432.00 in labor. Labor included intallation of rear new rotor breaks and pads, cleaned front breaks, oil change, gas filter, and K&N air filter.
A local Volvo Specialist told me it was going to cost me at least $700 labor not including the parts for replacing the rear main seal.

RE: replacing the rear main seal
I didn't think it would take so long to do it. I guess I'll have to ask my friend to do it. He's already doing the cap, rotor, rotors and pads. He just doesn't know I am adding a rear main seal lol. He already told me it's a pain and will take him about four hours so he rather not do it. At least he won't charge me as much as a dealer.
