Default Shift Button

I no longer have to push in my shift button to change gears. From park or any other location. Should I be worried about anything or just enjoy the Slap Stick?

On your 850? Do you have to push it in to get out of park? I've never had to push my button in to go from neutral to drive to reverse, but from park I had to.

If it was my car I would fix it. I have had my son pull my van out of park and hit a parked car.

Luckily, I'm the only one that drives my car, sometimes I'm tempted to pull it out of park, but I just slap my hand and tell myself no.

Default Tips on fixing shift button

Tech, my shift button on a 98 V70XC AWD is cracked on one side and sticks in after pushing it to shift out of park. Do you have any tips or technices on removing it to repair or replace? Can't seem to find anything in a search about doing this on an automatic shifter. Thanks in advance.

Yes I have a repair but you have to find an old bad 850 ****. The ones that the outside falls apart on. Then I can post how to do it.

That will be the first time I post how to do it.

So where is the problem on mine? In the shift ****, in the center console, where? Is it a simple pin missing or do I need to replace a part. Safety First!

Yesterday it wasn't all the way in D and was between D & 3 and it went into limp home mode. Up arrow flashing and it popped a P730 code (CEL). It drove the rest of the way home fine but did feel like it was slipping when I started off. I reset the code and all is well now.

Something may be stuck. You will have to get in there and inspect.

The problem with NOT HAVING TO PUSH THE BUTTON is likely in the center console?
