Default Shifting issue & Nivomat conversion

Had my freshly rebuilt turbo out for a drive today and finally got to a road where I could get some speed up. When I step on it all is great, turbo boosting, car accelerating, tranny shifting up, until I'm about to go from 3rd to 4th, it hesitates a bit and no shift until I slightly lift my foot off the gas then it shifts and takes off. It was in sport mode. Any ideas?

Also found out I have nivomats when I started to replace my rear shocks today. I really don't want them and didn't see a problem in doing a conversion to the standard shocks as long as I replace the springs. Am I missing something?

Any engine or tranny codes?

As long as you swap the shocks and springs it will be fine.

even if you dont change spring it'll work, it'll sag real low. like my car.

edit: my car has been converted, it looks to be a direct bolt in.

Thanks Tech and Matt01, I ordered springs and will convert.

Tech, no codes but I was thinking could I be hitting fuel cutoff? it kind of acts like what I would expect. does it throw a code? I'll try to test my wastegate control valve today. Damn if so that's more pressure than I want my new motor to see so soon.

Just the Volvo which is going to about 3/4 to 7/8 of full scale, any idea on how this corresponds to psi?. I check the waste gate actuator and it's working with about 8-10psi. Of corse this doen't mean the solenoid is working.

I just got back from a test drive and it sounds like the compressor bypass valve is opening, I can hear a blow off kind of sound and it surges a bit as the car is trying to get to 5000 rpm (pedal right to the floor of course)in 3rd as soon as it shifts.... hooooooooold on . man does it go and this was in eco mode. I'm going to get in so much trouble with this car

not to steal a thread of nothing but when i replaced my PCV i began to hear this aswell(possibly the first sign of an already better sounding engine), however after a day of driving that "blow off" is nowhere to be found AND i can only run at about 6 pounds of boost :S( thats what my boost gauge tells me )

Thanks...s_moneh

Yes she seems to get better after I'm driving her hard for awhile. Tonight I took her on a 20 mile drive to Vero Beach and she ran great, every time I had a chance I floored it though same old thing, serious pulsing hesitation (blow off sound everytime I feel the pulsing) between about 3500 and 5000 rpm. AS soon as I hit 5000 rpm(floored... shifts to 4th at about 65-70mph in 3rd) then the car really gets up and goes, and "I mean f*&^ing goes man" Unfortunatly I just haven't had the space to let her run.. maybe tomorrow I'll get to take her out to I95.

Still looking for advise . Thanks.

The cars accelerates (quickly), with no hesitation at all and no sound out of the CBV up to and almost through 3rd but at about 3500 i hear what I think is the CBV doing a phish, surge, phish, surge kind of thing. It just struggles to get to 5000rpm where it shifts to 4thand takes off like a bat out of hell.

Get a boost gauge and see what the boost levels are.

Is the 96 850 platinum ed the one with nivomats? I just has some new rear shocks put on and seems to ride a bit harsher.

I can hear my CBV almost every single time I shift, mostly 2nd-5th, 1st gear is hard to hear it tho. This only started since I got a K&N drop in filter tho...I think its normal :S

Mine is blowing off before it shifts from 3rd to 4th (automatic , I'm so envious you guys with manuals) with the pedal right to the floor. I hooked up a boost gauge today and I get to only about 11psi maybe 11.5. because of this it seems that I'm not hitting fuel cut off so I'm thinking the CBV spring is weak.
