steering rack noise

Smile steering rack noise

guys l need your opinion on my steering rack making a squeaking noise when then steering under low speed.power steering oil is at its right level but when steering left, l hear some loud squeaking noise.what could posible make the steering rack noisy like that?oil is not circulating well enough?

does power steering racks work using pressure?just wanting to know

Yes they work under pressure, depending on the system it could be 700 to 1100 psi. When going straight the pressure and fluid don't do much and circulate back to the resevior. When you start to turn you start to use that pressure to aid in turning and you start to put a load on the power steering pump and the belt. That's why a worn belt will start to slip and squeal when you're at low speed and cranked all the way left or right. That's when the pump is working it's hardest and why they have pressure switches on later model cars that actually raise the engine speed when they "see" the pressure rise so the pump can produce an adequate supply.
Hard to tell, could be the belt if it's in marginal condition or the tensioner isn't keeping it tight enough.
Just to be clear is it a constant noise or only when you have movement of the wheels. If it's only when your turning it could also be a dry ball joint or tie rod end. Kind of depends on what you are hearing.

thank you for the explanation. it does sound like something being stretched really hard making a sound.l will take a video of it tomorrow and post it up for you to have a clear view of what l am talking about. thank you
