Default Trip computer displaying disappeared

I left the interior lights on last night, so had to charge the battery to get it started. After it started, I noticed that the trip computer still had the back light, but no display: nothing, on any of the settings. I'd appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

Try resetting the cluster by unplugging it...

Default Would disconnecting the battery do it?

Thanks for the input! Would disconnecting the battery server the same purpose? If not, will this involve removing the cluster?

Default I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again! I probably should disconnect the battery, anyway, since I recently replaced the MAF sensor. I'll let you know what happens.

I made the mistake of hooking the battery up backward last winter (dark and sub zero) and killed mine. Really missed it and tried to find a way to resurrect it. Couldn't find any info on fixing one.

Ran the battery down doing something, pulled it out and charged it up, info panel came back to life. Disconnecting the battery for a while seems to reset it.

Default Disconnecting battery worked!

Thanks, guys: disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes, and the trip computer came back to life. I would have missed it...

I don't mean to bump an old thread, but I'm having a very very similar issue to this, except mine is intermittent. Sometimes it comes on when you start the car, and sometimes it doesn't. If it comes on, chances are it will go off before you drive more than about 3 miles.

Resetting the battery would hopefully fix this as well? All the info is still there, and I can see it turn off the backlight when the wheel gets to the "off" position, so I'm assuming it's still working and that the pixels are simply not transmitting.

Mine is on an '03 V70 though.
