Turbo Replacement
Hello, Im new to Volvo's and Im looking to replace my curent BMW 328i with mods with a 95 850 turbo that I am looking at. The service soon light was on but then went off after a bit of driving, and on the left right next to it, there was another light, but i had no idea what it was for.
Also, how much is a replacement turbo, just for the turbo itself, not labor? I can install it myself and if I need help, I have a friend who owns a shop.
Thank you,
Niki

I am a BMW guy and know all the places to buy parts for bmw's, but I have no clue where to find good prices on parts. What are some good websites for volvo performance and replacement parts.
There is a thread pinned to the top of the forum that will give you many places. fcpgroton, europarts and ipduse are all pretty good. I like fcpgroton cause I get stuff so quickly from them. They are in CT and I'm in OH and stuff gets here real fast. I can order on Wednesday and have it on Friday as long as I order before 3:00.
Use the Volvo Forums Resources Thread that is PINNED in every section on this forum. Use the one in GENERAL VOLVO as it is more up to date. Anyways...
The 1995 850 turbo shouldn't have a 15g on it. It should have a 13g as it sounds like it is the LPT engine. Unless you have a T5 or T5R then you would have a 15g on your engine.
Anways... You have to figure out if your flange is straight, angled or conical. Then you can move on from there with upgraded turbos. Unless you don't care and want to replace the downpipe too.
-13g
-15g
-16t
-18t
-19t
Personally the highest I would go on a stock engine would be the 16t. The 18t and 19t are just big turbos that you would need beefed up internals and everything else to run properly.
