Upper Shock support????
I was just wondering because the rear of my 850 wagon still has some sway is there a way to minimize it more. I replaced everything with my suspension but my front swaybar which im using the ipd swaybar that came with the kit....I allready installed the rear swaybar. I have also installed the upper stut support. I think once I replace the front sway bar the car will be alot tighter but still I cant stop myself from wondering about a upper shock support kit. Is there any kit on the market right now that strengthens the rear of the car. Upper Shock support kit?? Also I heard something in a different post about a bar placed where the rear seats are?? Just throwing some questions out there, because I would like to act upon these thoughts haha.
Man, I don't think I have ever heard anyone complaining about the rear of the wagon swaying. The wagons usually handle a little better than the sedans because of the stiffness in the wagon structure. I'm lost as to what your problem might be...
You could put in some sort of rear shock tower brace running from one upper mount to the other but I don't think it'd fit under the flooring and I haven't come across one offered by any supplier yet. You would have to make it or have it made for you custom $$$
Have you inspected all the rubber bushings on the rear arms yet? I would think it would be more likely one or two of those is well worn and allowing some slop.
IPD makes a rear Anti-Sway bar kit.
Anti-Sway Bar Kit - 850 70
Front sway bar poly bushings
Parts for Volvos: 850 Front Anti Roll Bar Bush Repair Kit (with 21mm/21.5mm bar) (see info)
Found fronts but didn't see any for the rear.
Powerflex
If anyone has a source for rear poly bushings please let me know.

The first thing I did when I bought the wagon I replaced all the suspension. The only thing I didnt get to is the IPD front sway bar which im installing next week. Im hoping the reason it is swaying alot could be that. I have the lowering kit on it, rear sway bar, upper strut support.......control arms, shocks/struts...all new hardware.....im going to look in to the bushing though..thank you for the links kiss4afrog....rspi, im lost to lol....i hope the front sway bar and new front bushings helps a little bit
If you have the time would you list what you've replaced in the suspension. Maybe it's just me but whey you say the whole suspension I don't know if you did shocks and struts or ..... literally everything.
I see you did the IPD rear swar bars which should have tightened it up quite a bit from what I've read in reviews.
Everyone is a little different and my wagon doesn't have anything upgraded ( most is new) in the suspension yet and mine doesn't seem to sway that much and I'll take an off/on ramp at the speed my tires start to make noise. I love doing that when someone is tailgating me as by the time they figure out they're going too fast .... oh well.
Have you checked to see what tires you have? If you've tightened up the suspension as much as it sounds like you have there is always the chance it's the tires flexing or squishing? It's just a thought. You could try a few more PSI to see if you feel a difference.
AND, if anyone does know where you can get Poly bushings for the rear suspension please let me know.

Yeah I love the rear swaybar, it made a great difference.
I have replaced the stuts, stut mounts, control arms, hd end links, upper stut support, upper stut bushings, ipd lowering springs........and in the rear i replaced the hardware for the rear sway bar....put the rear sway bar in.....new shocks...springs, all mounting hardware. My tires right now are firestones, not low profiles. My wheels arenot stock I got them from a buddy, he said they came off of a 740. They fit the car great and with the car lowered the whole fender gap is filled up. I also replaced all steering from power steering rack, pump, lines, mounts etc. The alighment was done not to long ago.....this saturday im installing the front sway bar from ipd and getting the alignment done yet.....thats all the suspension/steering done so far. I have my car at 40psi right now, anything lower than that the tires almost look flat haha.

Yes, you have indeed done the whole suspension. The only thing I see you are missing is the poly bushings. I wouldn't think they'd make that big a difference but it would be nice to hear from someone who has them.

I'm with you there! Makes me wonder how much faster I could take a ramp if I had his mods !!!
The exact specs are unknown but they are 17in tires. Ill be putting some winter tires on soon so ill update you with exact specs than rspi. Yeah the thing does drive like a go cart, I just wish it was the turbo. The thing that is screwing with my suspension has to be the fron swaybar...its oem....i can move it with my hand haha....cant wait to saturday when it gets replaced!!!!
Great websites kiss4afrog,Iam going to bookmark them and some time soon those will be in my car haha..there exactly what I have been searching for! Ill look in to the poly bushings.

Mattn888, I would stop where you are. If you would like the preformance of a turbo, get one now. You can get a decent one for about $2,000. Then strip down your car building up the turbo. Go and test drive one or two before you go further. I use to be anti-turbo before we got the S70 GLT. Now I think it would be hard pressed for me to get a car that is not.
I'm not one that goes around town hot rodding but I do like the power to be there when I want to make a move.

Yeah I know that is why im dying to get a turbo....than ill be able to stop on the suspension and actually work on performance...there is only so much you can do to the suspension.
There may only be so much you can do but each thing makes a difference. You may not catch a turbo on the freeway but you might walk away from one if he has to do a lot of cornering

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can ..................
