Default volvo 850 engine died

So my volvo 850 engine has died, and this brings up a question. I know this sounds stupid, but i figured what the heck. I can get a new engine and transmission and convert it to rear wheel drive. I was thinking about putting either a v6 or if I feel daring, I'll put a v8 in it.

I vote for the V8. Just makes drifting so much easier.

Yea there isn't much information on here. Don't know how we can help without knowing more.

How did the engine die? Timing belt? Rod? Or just a dead battery?

The timing belt jumped and there was smoke coming from the tailpipe. Afterwards, the engine lost compression.

Well, it is fixable. You need about $650 for head work, $150 for a gasket set, $200 for a timing kit, and $50 for head bolts. You can have the head off in about 6 hours and put back on in 10. Just depends if you want to mess with it. I found the process quite enjoyable.
